6 Thrilling spring activities
You can finally feel the deep breeze, hear the birds singing, leaves sprouting, the flowers are blooming and are starting to dot the landscape. All of this only means one thing – spring is in the air, it’s time for spring activities such as flowers, butterflies.
Whether you decide on taking the spring break or taking your child to spring camp, here are some fun spring activities little blooms can enjoy at home or in the School

Growing beans
Planting is a lovely spring activity to do with children,
children get to learn how food is being grown, things needed for the plant to grow such as nutrient,water and sunshine , they get to enjoy watching the plant grow every day as they keep watering it, this is exciting as children get to wait patiently for the seed to sprout, you will see them smiling when it eventually sprout
Resources
- Empty water bottle (anything to use as a pot)
- Seed
- Watering Can or spray bottle
- Soil
Instruction
- Cut the water bottle in half (use whatever will serve the purpose)
- Allow the child to put some Soil into the pot
- Let them put the beans seed (4 pieces of beans Seed )
- Let the child put some more soil to cover the beans seed
- Using a watering Can or spray bottle, let the child water the plant
- expose the plant to Sunshine
- Keep Watering the plant daily until it springs out

Growing seed on wool
Growing seed on wool is an intriguing method of planting,
Children will be excited as they watch the roots and shoots develop quickly.
Resources
- Bowl
- Cotton wool
- Beans
- Spray bottle
- Water
Instruction
- Allow the child to put lots of wool in the bowl.
- Put ten pieces of beans on the wool
- Cover the seed with more wool
- Using the spray bottle spray some water
- Expose the plant to some sunshine and daily water the plant
- watch out for the beautiful view as the roots and shoot will develop quickly
Painting flower pot
If you are going to be using a real flower pot for planting, letting
children painting the flower pot is another fun activity children can do

- Flowerpot
- Paint brushing /sponge
- Paints of different colours
Instructions
- Provide children with the above resources and let them enjoy painting the flower pot

Egg treasure hunt
A preschooler will love this activity, this is an engaging activity as children will go about searching, they get to learn colours (colour of the eggs), get to count the number of boxes and eggs they found

- Put plastic eggs into boxes
- Hid them into different corners of the garden/ room

Herb play dough
This is another fun spring idea that children will love

Okra flower painting
Since there is all talk about planting, this is a creative activity children can do

Okra (you might know it as ladies finger)
Paints
White paper
Instructions
- Give the child a plastic knife and let them cut the okra into two
- Dip the half-cut okra into Paints and let them enjoy stamping and making sort of flower prints
Caterpillar craft
This might be the time to read about the hungry caterpillar, how it became a beautiful butterfly and eventually makes flowers bloom.
Materials
- Egg carton
- Paints
- Paintbrushes
- Pipe cleaner
Instructions
- Cut the egg carton into rows
- Let the child colour an egg row
- Allow the child put the pipe cleaner as an antenna for the caterpillar
- Glue the eyes
